1. White Hat SEO
This technique follows the google search engine policies. They usually take longer for growth in rankings but have long lasting growth in rankings. White Hat SEO carries very less risk and tends to deliver long lasting value over time.

Writing high quality content in your niche

2. Black Hat SEO
This technique specifically called out in the guidelines as things you should not do. This takes little time in growth but doesn’t have a long lasting growth in rankings. They carry the risk that your website or content will rank lower and can get banned from search results.
Example of Black Hat SEO includes:
1. Hidden Text or Links
2. Keyword Stuffing
3. Sneaky Redirects
4. Cloaking
5. Link Manipulation
6. Article Spamming
7. Pages with malicious behaviour, such as phishing, viruses, trojans, and other malware
3. Grey Hat SEO
This technique is neither black nor white. It falls somewhere in the middle as these tactics are not specifically called out in Google’s Guidelines.
4. Negative SEO
This technique is the practice of implementing black or grey hat SEO techniques on someone else’s website with the intent of causing harm. Harming your competitors makes room for you to move up in search results.
